You guessed it! You need to take a healthy break from your current project and do something completely different. This is not a step you should take lightly, as you should usually allow yourself at least a week to recharge. It might seem like too much time for a short break, but remember that the goal isn't to finish your current projects, it's just to get those projects from your head and from your heart. So put down those books or open up that project management software for the moment and find something else you're dying to spend time on. Take some photos with your phone or practice yoga in bed. It doesn't matter if it is actually something you do. What matters is that you feel that urge to do it, and this urge comes from the blue ocean inside you. You are now in a position of power because you are not immersed in your current projects. You can see clearly what is preventing you from returning to your current projects, so now it's time to clear out the blue ocean by actively moving away from the obstacles that prevent your return. Your motivation will win through if you manage to realise how important it is for you to be able to focus on important things again, and how hard it can be when distractions draw your attention away once more. Don't make a list of everything that is distracting you. Just write down the main obstacles and try to get rid of them. It's not the point to maintain a list, just get rid of whatever stops you from getting back on track. In this step, if you realise that it's your relationship that is keeping you distracted, then maybe share your feelings openly with your partner or friends. Ask for some time off or some help from a friend to concentrate on what is important again.Step 4: ReturnYou have probably read about last step already in any productivity guide ever written: return to your project, and accept the fact that every day will be different from today. I can't give you a foolproof method to deal with the different days, but maybe you've learned from your break and how your feel when you're fully immersed in your projects again. So just get back on track, and accept that some days will be great and others will be more difficult. Just remind yourself that the goal is not to finish your project today or tomorrow, it's to do meaningful work that inspires you on every day.Returning is exciting because you know something great is waiting for you, so don't forget about this after such a long break! If it works out, then trust yourself enough to take another healthy break in case you get stuck again. If you struggle with staying focused, then I'd definitely recommend that you read Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People which can help you radically improve your focus and willpower. For more information about the 7 Habits of Highly Productive People, click here .In the comments section below, please share your own experiences with steps 1–3 from the blue ocean concept.
